There's a special senior class within the University of Evansville women's soccer team this year, and the final home match for that group takes place Saturday at 7:00, when the Purple Aces host the University of Northern Iowa in a Missouri Valley Conference match.

UE comes into the game 9-3-2 overall and tied for first place in the MVC at 3-1-0. UNI is 3-13-1 and 0-4-0 in the league.

In the three years before seniors Danielle Brand, Rocky Hearst, Kayla Lambert, Nicole Moyen, Kara Murphy, Kellee Widener and Julie Winkler arrived in 2005 (Mia Tofano joined the seven in 2006 after transferring from St. Mary's College), UE compiled a record of 12-39-4. Since then, the team's record is 39-25-6. At UE's Black Beauty Field, the seniors are 24-7-1, including a perfect 8-0 this season. Evansville has won 10 matches in each of the last three seasons, and a victory Saturday would assure the Aces’ fourth straight season with double-digit victories.

There's plenty yet to be decided for the Aces. A win on Saturday and a win one week later at Creighton in their final MVC match would give the Aces at least a share of the Missouri Valley Conference championship for the first time since 2000. Then it’s back to Creighton for the State Farm MVC Tournament Nov. 5, 7, and 9. That’s where the senior class will try to reach its final and most challenging goal– winning the State Farm MVC Tournament in order to qualify for UE’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001.

"As seniors, this is our last year to really show what we're all about," Tofano says. "We have a great team, great coaches, and everything we need to be successful. What better time to come out on top."
