University of Evansville women’s soccer player
Kayla Lambert (Las Vegas, Nev. / Palo Verde) has been chosen as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.
A senior forward for the women's soccer team, Lambert earned most outstanding player honors while leading the Purple Aces to the title of the 2008 State Farm MVC Championship at Omaha, Neb. The Aces defeated Missouri State (3-1 on Nov. 7) and Indiana State (2-0 on Nov. 9).
The 2008 MVC women's soccer player of the year, Lambert, who has a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average in management, scored two goals in the Aces' semifinal win over Missouri State. In the finals, she assisted on Evansville's second goal, raising her Valley career scoring record to 132 points (51 goals and 30 assists).
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
