The University of Evansville women's soccer team has had plenty of good days in 2008, and another one came today when two players made the NSCAA all-region team and the entire squad earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award.

The all-Great Lakes Region honors went to Kayla Lambert and Mia Tofano, who accounted for much of the offense for the University of Evansville's NCAA Tournament team this fall. Both senior forwards were third team selections.

Lambert becomes the first player in Aces' women's soccer history to earn all-region honors four times. This is the second all-region honor for Tofano, who also made the third team in 2006. Lambert led the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring with 14 goals and eight assists for 36 points, and finished as the MVC career scoring leader with 132 points. She was the 2008 MVC Player of the Year. Tofano was right behind in 2008 with 12 goals and nine assists for 33 points. Tofano will graduate as the fifth leading scorer in UE history with 77 points despite playing at UE for only three seasons.

Coach Krista McKendree's Aces finished with a 13-5-2 record, an MVC regular season championship, an MVC Tournament championship, and UE's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001.

The Aces also had a banner year in the classroom, and the result was Evansville's second consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Award. UE compiled a team grade point average of 3.44 during the most recent academic year, one of the top 15 GPAs in the nation. Only those with team GPAs of 3.0 and higher earn the NSCAA award. This is UE's fifth NSCAA Team Academic Award in the past seven years.
