Tiger Invitational Schedule
The University of Evansville softball team will travel to Auburn, Ala. to participate in the Tiger Invitational this weekend. The three-day tournament begins on Friday with six teams competing. They include Auburn, Evansville, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Marshall, and McNeese.
The Aces come into the tournament with a 1-2 record following last weekend’s series at New Mexico. In game one, New Mexico’s Kelly Ninemire was too much for Aces, pitching a complete game and striking out eight Aces’ hitters. The Aces only run in the 4-1 loss came off of a sacrifice fly by Amanda Ockomon that scored Cassey Kemna.
The Aces were able to score ten runs in game two for the 10-4 victory over the Lobos. Jennifer McKee got the win going four innings and only giving up two runs. The Aces took advantage of five errors by the Lobos and were able to put together nine hits in the game. Ockomon and Laura Rather picked up three RBI each in the win.
The Aces’ pitching woes in the last game of the series led to a 9-1 loss in five innings. In the game the Aces’ pitchers gave up 12 hits and eight earned runs. Lissa Fehlman and Krista Price picked up the only two hits for the Aces.
Price leads the team with four hits in eight trips to the plate. Ockomon leads the Aces with four RBI. Rather has the Aces’ lone home run.
