EVANSVILLE, Ind.--In a make-up for an earlier rain-out in February, the University of Evansville baseball team will battle longtime Tri-State area rival Kentucky Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Charles H. Braun Stadium in Evansville. First-pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
Evansville will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak on Tuesday, as the Purple Aces have opened the 2008 season with a 1-15 record. Evansville native and former North High School standout Andy Smith currently paces the UE attack with a .368 batting average, while sophomore Andy Pascoe has added a .302 average, four doubles, a home run, and a team-best 12 RBI.
Kentucky Wesleyan will bring a 6-12 overall record into Tuesday's game after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Quincy by scores of 8-5 and 4-0.
Tuesday's game will continue a stretch of 11-straight games at home for UE, including games later this week against Indiana (Wednesday, 3:00 p.m.) and Missouri Valley Conference rival Bradley (Friday-Sunday, 3 p.m., 2 p.m. and 1 p.m.).
