Freshman Kate Chybowski was chosen as this week's Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for her efforts this past weekend against Wright State and the University of Dayton.
With Lisa Kawamoto out of the lineup this weekend, freshman Kate Chybowski stepped up to take two singles victories at No. 1 singles. On Saturday, Chybowski defeated Jessica Lee in the Aces' 6-1 win over Wright State. She teamed up with Pin Sorensen to defeat Lee and Christa Ames, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles. At Dayton, Chybowski made short work of Allysa Detroy, 6-1, 6-0 in singles. Chybowski and Sorensen took their doubles match, 8-3, from Detroy and Megan Gray in the Aces' 5-2 win.
This spring, Chybowski is 16-0 in singles play, playing the majority of those matches at No. 2 singles. Chybowski and Sorensen are 9-4 in doubles play at No. 1. Since her arrival at UE, the freshman has won 21 of her 22 singles matches and has a combined record of 33-9. She is just two singles victories shy of breaking into the top five at UE for singles season wins.
