OMAHA, Neb.—The University of Evansville tennis team ended its season with a loss to Wichita State in the quarterfinals of the 2008 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
The Shockers took two doubles matches for the doubles point. Stephanie Dalmacio and Laryssa Ferreira defeated Kate Chybowski and Pin Sorensen at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Allie Cox and Stephanie Mills fell to Torrie Browning and Florentina Hanish 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
The Shockers picked up three singles to clinch the win. Dalmacio defeated Kawamoto 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Anna Egorova won at No. 3 over Sara Wilhoite, who played her last match as a Purple Ace. Pin Sorensen was defeated by Lenora Lazaroiu 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
The Aces finished their season 12-12 on the season. Senior Sara Wilhoite finished her final season at UE with a 10-9 record in singles this season.
