2008 MVC All-Conference Team
University of Evansville freshman Kate Chybowski was one of six tennis players voted to the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference All-Select team by a vote of the league’s coaches this week.
The top two seeds, Indiana State and Wichita State, dominated the All-Conference team with the Sycamores picking up five spots and the Shockers picking up four. Indiana State’s Jennifer Migan was chosen as Player of the Year and Sarah Meghoufel took home Freshman of the Year honors.
Chybowski, a freshman from Appleton, Wis., had a lot of success in her first campaign at UE. She finished the spring with a 19-4 record, playing primarily at No. 2 singles. Chybowski won 16 straight singles matches and had a perfect 15-0 record in non-conference play. Combined with her five singles wins in the fall, Chybowski now has 24 single-season wins, the fourth most in UE history. In doubles play, Chybowski played with fellow freshman Pin Sorensen for an 11-8 record at No. 1 doubles.
Due to poor weather, the Aces will match up with #72 Wichita State at 2 p.m. today at Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb. for the quarterfinals of the 2008 State Farm MVC Tennis Championships.
