Box Score

PEORIA, Ill.—The University of Evansville softball team took the third game and series win over Bradley on Sunday afternoon at Laura Bradley Park. The Aces shut out the Braves 5-0 in the series finale behind senior Jacki Bradley.

The game was scoreless through five innings as Bradley and Ashley Birdsong battled back and forth, but the Aces’ bats came alive in the latter two innings and two Braves’ errors allowed the Aces to score five runs.

The Aces were able to score four runs in the top of the sixth inning on three hits and two errors. Laura Rather led off the inning with a single. Amanda Ockomon laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Kelci Alsip, who pinch ran for Rather, to second before scoring on a Jamie Lindauer single. Brittany Herald then drew a walk and Krista Price reached on fielder’s choice to load the bases. Bradley improved her numbers with the bases loaded with a two-run single to score Lindauer and Herald. Price would score the fourth inning on a fielding error by the shortstop for the Aces’ fourth run.

Lindauer drove in her second run of the game in the seventh inning to score Rather from third to give the Aces a five-run lead.

Bradley went the distance in the circle for her team-leading tenth win of the season and allowed just five hits and struck out seven in the game.

Birdsong took the loss three earned runs on four hits in six innings.

Lindauer led the Aces with two hits and two RBI in the game. Bradley picked up two more RBI to lead the team with 29 on the season. Kristen Shirk was hit for the 11th time this season and laid down her 13th sacrifice bunt of the season to lead the team. Shirk and Lissa Fehlman also had base hits in the game.

The Aces (22-19, 8-12) will travel to Louisville on Tuesday for a midweek game before returning home to host Indiana State in the final series of the season.
