Coach Krista McKendree's University of Evansville women's soccer team will try to improve to 2-0 on Friday at ACC member Virginia Tech (6:00 CDT) after starting the season last Friday with a 5-2 win over Wright State.

The Purple Aces and Hokies met in 2006 at Evansville, with UE coming out on top 3-0 behind the two goals of Kayla Lambert and one from Mia Tofano. Those same two players were chosen Monday as the Brine/MVC co-Offensive Players of the Week after each scored two goals and made an assist in the 5-2 victory over Wright State. Virginia Tech is 0-1 after losing 2-1 at Davidson last week. The Hokies are picked eighth in the ACC, a league that sent eight teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2007.

On Sunday, the Aces complete their weekend in Virginia with a 1:00 match at Radford. The Highlanders are 1-0 after beating Howard last weekend, 4-0. Radford is picked fifth in the Big South Conference pre-season poll.

Lambert goes into this weekend's play needing five points to tie Krissy Meek Engelbrecht for the UE career scoring record. Lambert has 39 goals and 23 assists in her 57 collegiate matches for 101 points.
