BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Kayla Lambert put the University of Evansville ahead 2-0, but Virginia Tech stormed back here Friday night and defeated the Purple Aces' women's soccer team 4-2.  Lambert now has 105 career points, one shy of UE career scoring leader Krissy Meek Engelbrecht.

"We did a great job of withstanding their pressure," said Coach Krista McKendree, "but Virginia Tech is big and strong, and they probably wore us down a little bit toward the end.  But I'm still pleased with the way we kept fighting back."

Lambert, a senior forward who already has four goals in two matches this season, put the Aces on the board in the 13th minute.  She scored again at 47:32 when Julie Winkler set her up with a through ball, putting Evansville up 2-0.  But Robin Chidester evened the score in a seven-minute segment, scoring her first goal at 55:08 and her second at 62:15.  Marika Gray put Virginia Tech ahead 3-2 at 74:52, and Emily Jukich put the game away for the Hokies with a goal at 77:42.

Virginia Tech finished with 20 shots, nine on goal.  Evansville had three shots, with Lambert's tallies the only ones on goal.  Keeper Theresa Bagby made five saves for the Aces, who take a 1-1 record to Radford on Sunday.  Virginia Tech is also 1-1.
