CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Less than one minute away from its first road victory of the season, the University of Evansville women's soccer team had to settle for a draw here Monday night.
UE's Kayla Lambert put the Aces up 1-0 in the 84th minute, but Southeast Missouri's Megan McGrath tallied the tying goal in the final minute and that's how the score remained through 20 minutes of overtime. Evansville is 5-2-2 going into Saturday's home match against defending Missouri Valley Conference champion Illinois State in the first league match for both teams. SEMO is now 0-4-1.
"It's the same story; we have to find a way to win on the road," said UE coach Krista McKendree, whose team is 5-0-0 at home and 0-2-2 away from Black Beauty Field.
Lambert's goal was the seventh of the season for UE's all-time scoring leader. She continues to lead the MVC in scoring with 16 points. Sara Ornelas picked up the assist. Evansville had a total of 14 shots, with nine on goal. The Redhawks finished with 12 shots, and four on goal against UE keeper Theresa Bagby.
