Illinois State and the University of Evansville finished one-two in women's soccer in the Missouri Valley Conference last season, and they face each other in their first league match of 2008 Saturday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at UE's Black Beauty Field. The defending champion Redbirds are 5-5-1 while the Aces are 5-2-0 and winners of all five home matches this season. They've outscored the opposition 13-3 at home.

UE lost six straight matches to Illinois State from 2001 through 2005 before pulling out a 2-1 win at Evansville in 2006. Last year’s match at Illinois State was a 1-1 draw. Five players in Saturday’s match were chosen for the Pre-Season All-MVC Team. The 12-player team includes Illinois State’s Danielle Mutters and Raquel Rattray, and UE’s Julie Winkler, Mia Tofano and Kayla Lambert.
