Not since 2000 had the University of Evansville women's soccer team scored five goals or more twice in the same season.  The Aces did it for the second time in just five tries here in 2008 on Sunday when UE scored all of its goals in the first half in a 5-1 romp over Austin Peay.  The Aces also scored five in the season opener, a 5-2 victory over Wright State.

Evansville will try to win its third straight on Wednesday when the 3-1-1 Aces host Belmont at 7:00.

The Aces dominated Sunday's tilt in all categories, outshooting the Lady Govs 29-3.  Evansville put 17 shots on goal compared to one by Austin Peay.

Senior forward Mia Tofano scored two of the Aces' five first half goals, at 5:09 on a breakaway and at 18:09 when she headed in Nicole Moyen's corner kick.  In between, Kayla Lambert scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season at 12:29 on Katelyn Smith's assist, and Julie Winkler headed in the first of two goals off a Moyen corner.

Goal five came at the 44:49 mark on Rocky Hearst's first of the year, with assists to Kara Murphy and Colleen Marty.  Austin Peay's Alanna Foster finally prevented the shutout when she sent a shot above the outstretched hands of Stephanie Pitstick at 55:53.  Pitstick played the final 45 minutes in place of starter Theresa Bagby.

"It was good for us to finally put away a team early, and get some people who have been deserving of playing time into the game," said Coach Krista McKendree.
