WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue, ranked 18th in this week's NSCAA women's soccer national poll, scored three first half goals to beat the University of Evansville 3-0 this afternoon. Evansville is now 5-10 going into Sunday's match at Murray State, which completes a four-match road trip. The Boilermakers are 9-3-3. Alexis Tryba opened the scoring for Purdue at 7:26 when she headed in a shot past UE keeper Chaviel Harrison. Jessica Okoroafo made it 2-0 at 18:54 on a shot from 15 yards out, and the Boilers went up 3-0 three minutes later on an own goal following a scramble near the net. Harrison finished with 14 saves, one shy of the school record. Following Sunday's match at Murray State, the Aces play their final regular season match October 29 at home against Missouri Valley Conference opponent Creighton. Evansville is already assured of a place in the six-team State Farm MVC Tournament, which begins with quarterfinal matches November 1 at campus sites.
