OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University jumped ahead by 10 points early, and never let the University of Evansville get closer than nine the rest of the way Saturday afternoon as the Redhawks topped the Purple Aces 82-58.

The Aces play their second road game of the year Tuesday at Tennessee Tech, then return home to Roberts Stadium on Friday to play Alabama State at 7:05.

Miami built a 19-point lead late in the first half at 42-23 before the Aces cut the deficit to nine early in the second half at 45-36 on a James Haarsma basket at 16:40.  That's as close as the Aces could come, however, as the Redhawks scored 16 of the game's next 18 points to go up 61-38.  Evansville is now 2-2.  Miami is 2-4.

"We just got outplayed and outcoached all day," said Coach Marty Simmons.  "We expected a hard nosed team, and Miami was just that.  We did make a run early in the second half, but we couldn't sustain that.  We need to have more poise with the basketball and we rush shots, so we don't give our offense a chance to break teams down.  We'll keep working at it.  I know this team will keep improving."

Miami hit 31 of 58 shots, including nine of 24 from three-point range, and was led by Julian Mavunga's 18 points.  Evansville hit 20 of 52, but just two of 10 from behind the arc.  James Haarsma led the Aces with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Denver Holmes and Bryan Bouchie added 11 each.

Resuming Monday, fans can purchase the Lucky 7s ticket package from the UE ticket office, the Roberts Stadium box office or Ticketmaster.com.  For just $77, fans get a ticket in row 7 or above for all 7 remaining weekend games--Dec. 4 vs. Alabama State, Dec. 19 vs. UT-Martin, Jan. 3 vs. Creighton, Jan. 16 vs. Southern Illinois, Jan. 31 vs. Indiana State, Feb. 6 vs. Bradley and Feb. 20 in the ESPN Bracketbusters.
