FT. WAYNE, Ind.—The University of Evansville tennis team won the first of its two weekend matches with a 5-2 win over IPFW on Friday night.
The Aces won the doubles point with wins at number one and two doubles. Kate Chybowski and Theadora Kotsiou defeated Amy Recht and Sachi Janek, 9-7, at number one while Ashton Schwerin and Pin Sorensen took a 8-6 win over Ingrid Ballas and Yuka Kobayashi at number two.
Four Aces took away singles victories in the match including Chybowski who had the match-clinching win at number one against Recht. Schwerin and Sorensen defeated their doubles rivals Ballus and Kobayashi, respectively. Kotsiou took the win at number three singles over Janek.
The Aces (3-2) will finish their weekend on Saturday night against St. Francis with match time set for 7 p.m.
