NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The University of Evansville tennis team could not complete a weekend sweep as they dropped their final match of the weekend 4-3 to Belmont University at the Wildwood Club on Saturday evening.
The Aces jumped out to an early lead, securing the doubles point with wins from Theadora Kotsiou and Kate Chybowski at number one singles and Ashton Schwerin and Pin Sorensen at number two doubles.
The Aces fell short in singles play. Kotsiou and Sorensen finished the match with the Aces’ only individual wins. Kotsiou defeated Abby Leatherwood at number three singles, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Sorensen picked up a win at number four singles, defeating Lindsay Bennett, 6-4, 6-2.
The Aces (2-2) will return to Evansville to host their first home match of the season with Murray State at 6 p.m. on Friday at Tri State Athletic Club.
