3/18/2009 3:36:24 PM

Six games are on the schedule this spring for the defending Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer champion University of Evansville. UE's spring team includes all currently enrolled players who will be back for the 2009 fall season. UE had seven seniors on the 2008 squad, which won the MVC regular season and tournament championships, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001.

Coach Krista McKendree will start off with a doubleheader this Sunday at UE's Black Beauty Field at Arad McCutchan Stadium, facing Vanderbilt at 12 noon and St. Louis University at 2:00. Vanderbilt will play St. Louis at 4:00. The Purple Aces play a 7-aside match at Western Kentucky March 28 in the Hilltoppers' Kicks For Cancer event, and then travel to Indianapolis the following Saturday, April 4, to play Butler at Kuntz Stadium at 1:30. UE returns home to meet the University of Southern Indiana on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00, and closes out the spring schedule with a match April 18 at Middle Tennessee State University.

Despite losing seven key players, the Aces have six returning starters, including Colleen Marty up front, Kellee Widener in the midfield, defenders Katelyn Smith, Kasey Kutzler and Kasey Cartwright, and goalkeeper Theresa Bagby.
