CLEARWATER, Fla.—The University of Evansville softball team is still seeking its first win at the Under Armour Invitational at the University of South Florida. Connecticut took a 9-2 win over the Aces in the first game of the day while Robert Morris edged the Aces 2-1 in the second game.
The Aces managed just two runs in the first game of the day as UConn ran away with a9-2 win. The Aces offense produced a run in the second inning. Kylie Wagner got hit and Lissa Fehlman bunted her over to second for Amanda Ockomon who drove home Wagner win a RBI single.
The Aces would get one in the fourth on a Fehlman single and an Ockomon double for Ashleigh Rahming who hit into a fielder’s choice to allow Fehlman to score from third.
Wagner was tagged with the loss, pitching the first three innings. Annie Vincelett finished out the game in relief of Wagner.
In the second game, the Aces put up a run in the seventh inning to pull within one of Robert Morris, but fell short in the 2-1 loss.
Ockomon scored the lone run for the Aces on a RBI double by Fehlman.
The Aces had four hits in the game with Ockomon, Fehlman, Maggie Little, and Kelci Alsip all contributing hits.
Jennifer McKee took the loss, pitching the entire game and giving up two runs on eight hits with three strike outs.
The Aces (3-9) will play either Lehigh or Ball State at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
