Two women's soccer teams that have had trouble finding the back of the net totaled five goals Saturday at McCutchan Stadium, and unfortunately for the University of Evansville, three of the five belonged to the Illinois State Redbirds.

Allie Newsom broke a 2-2 tie at the 75:31 mark with her first goal of the season, a header set up by Kristin Cooley's long serve.  Illinois State is now 6-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference.  Evansville is now 3-9-1 and 0-3-0 in the MVC.

Illinois State went up 1-0 on Jessica Carlson's team-high fourth goal of the season at 31:14, but Evansville countered less than 30 seconds later with the first collegiate goal from freshman Kaitlin Robinett, set up by Sara Ornelas's pass.  Ayssa Schulz put the Redbirds back ahead 2-1 at 55:50, but Robinett scored again for the Aces at 62:35 on passes from Ornelas and Stephanie Thompson.  That's the way it stayed until Newsom's goal-winner in the 75th minute.

Illinois State had scored only two goals in its previous six matches.  Evansville had been limited to 10 goals this season, although the Aces have scored nine times in their last six outings.

Illinois State had the advantage in shots, 21-7, and put seven shots on goal compared to UE's two shots on goal--both of which connected for scores.
