EVANSVILLE, Ind. - A combination of outstanding three-point shooting by DePauw and poor free throw shooting by Evansville meant the difference Saturday night in the Tigers' 66-62 exhibition game victory over the Purple Aces at Roberts Stadium.

Four Tigers hit two or more three-pointers and DePauw ended up 9-for-20 from behind the arc while Evansville connected on only three of 10 threes.  Both teams scored 15 points from the free throw line, but it took Evansville 30 attempts to hit 15.  DePauw was 15-for-20.

"We didn't rebound the ball well, we didn't make shots and we didn't make free throws," said coach Marty Simmons.  "And DePauw did all of those things and more.  They outcompeted us and outhustled us.  To start with, we need to practice harder and be more competitive in practice."

Added UE sophomore Colt Ryan, who led all scorers with 17 points, "We were getting some good looks and a couple shots didn't fall, but when that happens you hope to get to the free throw line and score points there.  Tonight we didn't do that well enough."

Two other Aces reached double figures, with junior college transfers Kenny Harris and Matt Peeler scoring 11 and 10, respectively, in their first outing wearing the purple and orange. Sophomore #Ned Cox added nine points, and senior Pieter van Tongeren led the squad with nine rebounds, while also tallying seven points.

The Tigers were led by senior Ryan Sever with a near double-double, 14 points and nine rebounds. Michael Wilkison added 11 poi

The Aces are back in action Saturday, November 6 at 7:05, hosting Kentucky Wesleyan for the final exhibition game before opening the regular season with Oakland City on November 13 at Roberts Stadium.
