PEORIA, Ill.--- The University of Evansville softball team (6-12, 1-3) posted its first 2010 Missouri Valley Conference win on Friday at Bradley (10-12, 1-1) with an 11-0 win in five innings before falling to the Braves 8-0 in five in the second game.

The Aces' bats came alive in game one at Bradley, as UE posted 11 hits to take the run-rule victory. Sophomore Amy Gaertner went 3-for-4 and freshman Alicia Betancur was 2-for-3 with both posting two RBI and a double.

UE did its damage in the top of the third with nine runs scored, which is the most runs scored in a single inning by UE since 2008 when the Aces posted 11 runs in the first against Southeast Missouri State. With no outs and the bases loaded by a freshman Halie Malone walk, senior Jamie Lindauer on base from an error and junior Jen Stahlhut hit by pitch, a Gaertner single brought in the first run. Junior Kelci Alsip then singled to left center to bring in two more runs before stealing second. Sophomore Allison Aguilera then walked to load the bases again so that senior Krista Price's double to center put the score at 5-0.

Betancur's double added two more runs in the third while Lindauer singled to the right side in her second at-bat of the inning. Betancur would score on a passed ball before an error on the right fielder brought Lindauer home to end the scoring spree at 9-0.

Two more runs came in the fifth as a fielder's choice brought Betancur across the plate and Gaertner's double scored Stahlhut.

Freshman Kendall Kautz (6-3) pitched all five innings to earn her second shutout of the season. Kautz gave up six hits while striking out three.

The Braves used nine hits and two UE errors to avoid the second loss of the day with an 8-0 win in five innings. Kautz took the loss for the Aces after fiving up two runs on three hits with one strikeout. Senior Jen McKee then came in, as she had six runs and six hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Alsip and sophomore Ashleigh Rahming posted hits for UE.

Bradley did most of its scoring early in the game with two runs in the first and three in the second. With three more added in the fourth, the game became out of reach, as Bradley also hit three doubles in the win.

The Aces and Braves will face off again Saturday with a noon start time. Listen to 91.5 WUEV for live play-by-play of the game.
