BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— After a 3-2 win in game one, the University of Evansville softball team couldn’t catch the sweep against Indiana University, as the Aces (12-22, 5-9 MVC) dropped game two 4-0 to the Hoosiers (9-25).

With eight Aces posting hits, senior Jamie Lindauer led UE with two hits on the way to a team total of nine hits to defeat the Hoosier 3-2 in the first game.
Freshman Kendall Kautz (9-8) earned the win with her tenth complete game. The Colorado native allowed three hits with two walk and two strikeouts. Indiana’s Sara Olson (5-11) also went the entire game with four strikeouts and two walks.
UE opened the game with a bomb, as junior Jen Stahlhut hit her third home run of the season to right field. IU answered back with Breanna Saucedo singling and stealing second before two sacrifices led her home to tie the game at 1-1.
Sophomore Amy Gaertner and freshman Alicia Betancur singled to start UE’s scoring in the fourth. Illegal pitches moved the runners to third and second, respectively, before freshman Halie Malone tabbed a hit to score Gaertner. The Hoosiers didn’t let the lead last long, as Olson homered to center field for a 2-2 tie.
The Aces got things done in the seventh with junior Kelci Alsip singling and freshman Brianna Villanueva reaching on an error. Lindauer then hit one up the middle to bring in Alsip’s winning run.

Betancur grabbed the Aces’ two hits with a single in the fifth and a double in the seventh.
Senior Jen McKee (2-6) pitched a majority of the game, as she gave up five hits, all four runs and two strikeouts. Sophomore Maggie Little came in for one inning to record a strikeout.
The Aces return to James and Dorothy Cooper Stadium this weekend when they play host to Wichita State. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at noon with Sunday’s single game also at noon. UE will also be celebrating its Alumni Weekend at The Coop.
