University of Evansville softball players Jen McKee and Jen Stahlhut were both named as Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete honorable mention selections, the league announced Monday.

McKee wrapped up her senior year this spring after recording 192 strikeouts in her career. This is the second time that the Hamilton, Ohio, native earned scholar-athlete honors while she has also been named to the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and Honor Roll during her time at UE. This season, McKee struck out a season-high seven batters against Murray State and clinched a win against Western Kentucky after giving up one run on five hits. With a 3.75 GPA, McKee graduated with a degree in visual communication.

Stahlhut’s selection comes on the heels of her earning second team all-conference and all-tournament honors during her junior year. Starting and playing in every game for the last two years, Stahlhut ranked first in the MVC with eight doubles in conference play while third in the league with 13 doubles overall. Originally from Troy, Illinois, Stahlhut ranked second on the team in batting average at .305 and stolen bases with nine. Stahlhut holds a 3.62 GPA and is pursuing a degree in health services administration.
