EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Purple Racquets Club, the booster club for the University of Evansville women’s tennis team, has announced that it will hold an inaugural 2011 Fall Aces Tennis Championship.
“UE Women’s Tennis is excited to announce the first fundraising event of this kind. With the help of many, including Tri-State Athletic Club, we are looking forward to putting together a great night of tennis,” head coach Nick Mueller said. “Doubles in a team-style tournament should provide a lot of excitement. The cookout is included and the prizes will get the competitive juices flowing. It should be a lot of fun!”
This will mark the first event of its kind hosted by the club and is open to adults of all tennis abilities. The event gets underway with a clinic for all competitors, which will be taught by members of the UE tennis team.
Following the clinic, the Aces players will serve as coaches in a tournament amongst the competitors. Each player will coach a group of participating adults. It is a team-style doubles tournament.
Set for Saturday, October 22, the event will begin at 4 p.m. with the clinic and will be followed by the tournament, which will run from 4:30 through 7:30 p.m. Tri-State Athletics Club will play host to the event.
The cost to participate is $100 and all proceeds will go to the University of Evansville Tennis Program. It includes the clinic, competition, a cookout and a t-shirt. Prizes, which include Aces basketball tickets and championship t-shirts, will be given out. A silent auction will also be held.
