WATERLOO, Iowa – The University of Evansville women’s soccer team held the hosting Northern Iowa Panthers off the scoreboard for the entire first half, despite facing 10 shots, but a single goal in the 64th minute of play was all UNI needed Saturday afternoon for the conference victory. With the loss, the Aces fall to 1-10-4 overall and 0-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while the Panthers improve to 6-7-2 on the season and 2-2 in the league.
With 63:20 on the clock, Missy Journot’s free kick from outside of the box found the back of the net for the lone goal of the match.
Facing a total of 19 shots in the contest, junior goalkeeper
Chaviel Harrison recorded nine saves, upping her season total to 102.
The Aces were able to get off 11 shots of their own, including eight in the second half. Junior
Kasey Cartwright led the squad with four shots, while sophomores
Breana Beine and
Stephanie Thompson each had two.
Evansville is back in action Wednesday when they travel to Indiana State for a 6:00 p.m. CT start. The trip to Terre Haute marks the Aces final road game of the regular season. UE returns home Saturday, Oct. 23 for a 1:00 p.m. start versus Drake.
