NORMAL, Ill. – Falling behind 2-0 at the half, the University of Evansville women’s soccer team could not catch the hosting Illinois State Redbirds despite sophomore
Breana Beine’s late game goal, as the Aces fell, 3-1, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Evansville now has a 1-9-4 overall record and 0-2 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference, while Illinois State improves to 8-5-0 and 3-1 in league play.
The Redbirds’ season top scorer, Rachel Tejada, tallied her 14
th goal of the year in the 19
th minute of play. She received a leading pass from Jessica Carlson from midfield to give ISU a 1-0 head start.

The Redbirds added an insurance goal after the half on Tejada’s second score of the afternoon and 15
th of the season from inside the box.
However, the Aces rallied late in the match, and Beine prevented the shutout with her first goal of the season on a breakaway.
Setting the pace of the game, the Redbirds held a 28-3 shot and 11-3 shot on goal advantage, as well as an 11-1 edge in corner kick opportunities. Beine took two of the Aces’ shots, while sophomore
Stephanie Thompson had the other.
In net, Harrison finished with eight saves in the contest, playing the full 90:00 minutes.
The Aces are back in action Saturday when they travel to take on MVC foe Northern Iowa at 2:00 p.m. CT.
