EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville student-athletes Cathy Doyle (women’s golf) and Johnny Day (baseball) have been chosen to represent UE at the 2011 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum this week. The forum will take place November 3-6 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago.

The NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum will include representation of Division I, II and III student-athletes, coaches and athletics professionals.  More than 300 student-athletes and more 100 athletics professionals are scheduled to be in attendance at the conference.

“This is a great opportunity to meet fellow student-athletes and improve my leadership skills,” said Doyle. “I am honored to have been selected to represent UE and excited to bring back what I will learn at the conference.”

The mission of the forum, according to the NCAA, is to “engage a diverse and dynamic representation of student-athletes, coaches, faculty and administrators and provide pertinent and customized sessions that will enhance personal awareness and leadership skills needed to impact student-athlete development at the campus and conference level, and beyond the collegiate realm.”

Doyle, a freshman from Indianapolis, Ind., tallied an 86.27 stroke average in 11 rounds for the Aces this fall. Prior to UE, Doyle helped lead Chartard High School to its first ever appearance in the Indiana state finals in 2010.

Day is a sophomore catcher who played in 36 games with 33 starts as a freshman in 2010. The Tower Lakes, Ill., native hit .231 with 13 RBI in his rookie season before redshirting in 2011 due to shoulder surgery.

Accompanying Doyle and Day at the conference will be Senior Associate Athletic Director, Sarah Solinsky.
