Coming off Tuesday’s 77-70 first round victory over Hofstra, the University of Evansville men's basketball team takes on another opponent for the first time ever–the Broncos of Boise State.  The quarterfinal game in the College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen takes place Monday at 7:00 Mountain Time (8:00 CDT) at 12,480-seat Taco Bell Arena in Boise.  The game will not be televised, but will be video streamed and can also be heard on the University of Evansville/Old National Bank Radio Network.

Boise State has won nine of its last 10 under first-year coach Leon Rice, including an 83-80 win at home in Tuesday’s first round against Austin Peay.  The Aces and Broncos have one common opponent–Drake.  Boise State lost at Drake on Dec. 12, 72-69.  Evansville split its Missouri Valley Conference series with the Bulldogs, winning in Evansville on Jan. 12, 67-51, and losing in Des Moines on Feb. 23, 87-69.

Bench play was a big factor in Evansville’s win Tuesday over Hofstra. Three non-starters scored in double figures, led by the 13 points and five rebounds of freshman guard/forward Jordan Jahr.  Guard Ned Cox and center Clint Hopf added 10 each.  It was the first time this season that as many as three players came off the bench to score 10 points or more.

Sophomore guard Colt Ryan led all scorers with 21 on Tuesday.  He has been Evansville’s scoring leader in each of the last seven games, averaging 20.0 points during that stretch.  Ryan was second team all-Missouri Valley Conference and second team on the NABC all-district team. Ryan is seven points away from 500 for the season, and in two seasons has scored 928 points.

Here’s a look at Evansville’s top accomplishments so far in 2010-11:
