Eric Stamets Named Cape Cod League All-Star

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- University of Evansville baseball player Eric Stamets has been chosen to play in the 49th annual Cape Cod League All-Star game on Friday at Fenway Park. Stamets, who is the Hyannis Harbor Hawks’ starting shortstop, will represent the West Division.
Currently leading the team offensively with a .304 batting average, 42 hits in 138 at-bats, and 20 runs scored in the wooden-bat league, the native of Dublin, Ohio has also recorded a team-high 11 stolen bases. Defensively, Stamets leads all shortstops in the league in putouts (56) and assists (100).
Stamets has helped put Hyannis in first place in the five-team Western Division with a 25-12 record.
For the first time, Comcast SportsNet New England will televise the CCBL All-Star Game from Fenway Park in Boston. The telecast will also be carried on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet California, Comcast SportsNet MidAtlantic, The Mtn and CSS, reaching an estimated 34 million homes. Eric Frede and Lou Merloni return to handle play-by-play and analyst duties. Air time will be 7 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:07.
The CCBL All-star Game will be also be broadcast on WCAI, the Cape and Islands NPR station, with former major league announcer Jerry Trupiano and John Garner of the CCBL providing commentary.
