Women’s Soccer Outshoots But Falls To Xavier, 1-0

Xavier’s goal after a throw-in in the 58th minute was the only ball to find the back of the net Wednesday evening at XU Soccer Complex, as the University of Evansville women’s soccer team fell, 1-0. With the loss, the Purple Aces now hold a 1-3-1 record on the season, while the Musketeers improved to 2-2-0.
Mariah Whitaker recorded the goal for XU from a shot about eight yards out on the ground. Brooke Eberly and Alyssa Tindal were both credited with assists when a throw-in to a header led to the goal.
For the first time this season, the Aces outshot their opponent, as UE tallied 14 shots, seven on goal, compared to the Musketeers’ 13 shots, six on goal. Ten of Evansville’s shots came in the second half.
Sophomore Tasha Prentice led the Aces’ offense with four shots on the night, while sophomore Stephanie Thompson, sophomore Kaitlin Robinett, and junior Kristen Davis each had two. Robinett’s and Davis’ were both on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Chaviel Harrison played all 90:00 minutes, recording five saves.
The Aces are back in action Friday they host Southeast Missouri State at 7:00 p.m. CT at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
