EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After leading 2-0 at halftime, the University of Evansville women’s soccer team recorded its fourth draw of the season Sunday afternoon at Arad McCutchan Stadium, tying UT-Martin, 2-2. The Purple Aces now own a 1-6-4 mark on the season, matching a program record for draws in a single season.

With much of the first 30 minutes spent around midfield, as neither team recorded a shot until nearly 18 minutes into the contest, the Aces took command in the 35th minute when sophomore Kaitlin Robinett tallied her third goal of the year on a shot that sailed high over goalkeeper Mariah Klenke from outside the box on the left side.

Just over three minutes later, Evansville gave themselves a two-goal cushion when freshman Caitie Dierkes passed ahead to junior Kristen Davis on the right side. Kicking the ball past diving Klenke, Davis recorded her first goal of the season.

However, the Skyhawks played copycat in the second half, tallying two goals of their own. UT-Martin first found the back of the net in the 50th minute on Hannah McGowen’s line drive kick from the top of the box.

At the 69:01 mark, the Skyhawks evened the score on Kendyl Wilson’s goal from the right side. McGowen recorded the assist, passing the ball from the top middle of the box.

In two ten minute overtime periods, neither team was able to convert, despite a few good looks at the net. The Aces had two shots on goal in the first overtime, including Davis’ shot that sailed just high with three seconds remaining. The Skyhawks tallied one shot on goal in each extra stanza, but keeper Chaviel Harrison was able to make the saves.

Harrison finished with nine saves on the day, playing all 110:00 minutes.

Davis led the Aces’ offense with four shots, two on goal, while Robinett took three shots, all on net.

Evansville is back in action next Saturday when the Purple Aces play host to the IPFW Mastodons. The match is set to start at 5:30 p.m. CT at Black Beauty Field at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
