EVANSVILLE, Ind.
– The University of Evansville women’s soccer team could not find the net Friday night at Arad McCutchan Stadium despite some great looks at the goal, as the Aces fell, 3-0, to Southeast Missouri State. With the loss, Evansville now holds a 1-4-1 record, while SEMO improved to 3-1-0.
The Purple Aces were narrowly outshot in the contest, 13-10 and 6-4 on goal, but the Redhawks made the most of their opportunities.
First, in the 30th minute of play, SEMO’s Torey Byrd headed a ball out of the reach of goalkeeper Chaviel Harrison on pass from Jacey Boyko on the right side.
With a 1-0 lead at the half, SEMO connected again in the 49th minute when Lauren Bozesky fired the ball from the top-middle of the box to the back left corner of the net.
In the 75th minute, the match crawled out of reach for the Aces as Erica Shulman broke away and shot from inside the box on the right side past Harrison.
Junior Kristen Davis led the Aces with three shots, two on goal, including one in the 76th minute that nearly slipped past keeper Ashton Aubuchon. Freshman Caitie Dierkes and sophomore Kaitlin Robinett each took two shots.
Aubuchon made four saves on the night in 78:56 minutes. Harrison played all 90:00 minutes and tallied three saves for Evansville.
The Aces are back in action Sunday when they travel to take on Morehead State at noon.
