EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women’s soccer team will get its last test of the season Saturday before opening Missouri Valley Conference play next week. The Purple Aces host IPFW Saturday at 5:30 p.m. CT on Black Beauty Field at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS (2-5-0, 0-0 Summit League)
IPFW will enter the weekend on a three-game losing streak, falling most recently to Bowling Green and Ball State last weekend. All three losses have been a 1-0 decision. Saturday’s contest will also mark the Mastodons’ last match before opening league play next week. Nine players have recorded points for IPFW this fall with Lisa Underwood (4g, 1a, 9pts) and Tylar Allison (1g, 3a, 5pts) leading the way. In goal, Kristen McFadden (390:21min, 1.15GAA, 23SV, .821SV%, 1-3-0) has played the majority of the time, sharing a few matches with Jessica Schein.

The last time the Aces played IPFW in the regular season was in 2004. UE topped the Mastodons, 4-3, at home.

Kaitlin Robinett led the Evansville offense with two goals and an assist last week as the Aces went 0-1-1. After falling behind, 4-0, versus Miami (Ohio), the Aces came storming back with three unanswered goals, sparked by Robinett’s breakaway goal and an assist, making it a one-goal game with just over two minutes to go. Against UT-Martin, the New Albany, Ind. native gave UE a 1-0 lead with her third goal of the season.

Chaviel Harrison recorded 16 saves across two matches, playing all 200:00 minutes in net last week. In UE’s, 4-0, loss to Miami (Ohio), Harrison tallied seven saves, going up against 16 shots. Harrison posted nine saves in the Aces’ 2-2 draw with UT-Martin, including making three saves in the overtime periods, preventing the loss. On the season, the Murrieta, Calif. native has made 78 saves in 11 contests.

Kristen Davis recorded her first goal of the season Sunday versus UT-Martin. It marked her first score since her freshman year in which she tallied five goals.

In the UE women’s soccer program’s 19-year history, Evansville has never recorded five or more ties. The Aces matched the record, four, Sunday with their 2-2 draw with UT-Martin. The only other time UE has tied four times in a season was in 1994.
