EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Rachel Gillespie earned the first win of her collegiate career as the University of Evansville women’s tennis team earned a 9-0 win over the University of Charleston (W.Va.) on Saturday morning.
 
Gillespie won in singles play over Courtney Pierron, 6-2, 6-1, while earning a win at flight three doubles.  Along with partner Mina Milovic, Gillespie defeated Mallika Mali and Taylor Todd, 8-2.
 
Flight one singles saw Natasha James defeat Laura Smith (6-0, 6-3) while Milovic handled Kelsey Hensley in the second flight (6-3, 6-1).  Emily Richardson defeated Ana Pena in three sets in the third group while Gaby Fifer defeated Mali (6-3, 6-0) in flight four.

Kelsey Costales earned the win over Taylor Todd (6-0, 6-1) in the fifth flight while Kelsey Edens topped Cache Yates.
 
James and Costales earned an 8-1 win in flight one doubles over Smith and Hensley while Fifer and Richardson defeated Pena and  Pierron in flight two, 8-2.
 
Next week, UE will take part in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in West Lafayette, Ind.  The tournament will take place from Oct. 18-21.
