EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville junior forward
Stephanie Thompson was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 5 Second Team for her efforts in the classroom and on the pitch this season in an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Friday morning.
Thompson was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team at the MVC awards banquet last night in Omaha, Neb., after scoring 10 points on the year on four goals, including a pair of game-winners, and two assists.
The Evansville native scored goals in two of UE’s last three games and posted a four-point effort in the Aces’ MVC opener against Illinois State, scoring a goal and dishing out a pair of assists.
Off the field, Thompson boasts a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in exercise science. She was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team last season, in addition to earning MVC All-Tournament Team honors and All-MVC Honorable Mention recognition.
Thompson and the Aces will open MVC Tournament play later this afternoon, when they take on No. 5 seed Indiana State at 3:30 p.m. in the first of two semifinal matches in Omaha, Neb.
