Women’s Soccer Signs Seven For 2012

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women’s soccer program has announced the signing of seven recruits to National Letters of Intent. The newest Purple Aces include Simone Busby (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory School), Allie Arguello (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman), Holyn Marshall (Bentonville, Ark./ Bentonville), Kayla Smith (Evansville, Ind./North), Abby Springer (Indianapolis, Ind./ Southport), Sophie Etienne (Santa Claus, Ind./Heritage Hills), and Kelli Moran (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood).
 
Simone Busby (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory School)
U20 Guyanese National Team goalkeeper for Coach Chris Brown … Competes on the East Ridge Express club team for Coach Patrick Winecoff … A two-time TSWA All-State Soccer Team selection … Named All-City Soccer MVP in 2011 and Chattanooga Best of Preps Tournament MVP in 2011 and 2012 …  Also a standout basketball player and track athlete … Helped GPS to the 2011 Tennessee State Championship, while being named to the TSWA All-State team and MVP of the State Tournament … Won state championships for shot put and discus and was a two-time all-state track team selection.
 
Allie Arguello (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman)
Competes in the Nevada Olympic Development Program and plays for the Heat F.C. … Helped her team to the 2010 state championship … Served as the National League team captain … A four-time letterwinner at Biship Gorman High School … Led her team to three division championships … Named all-conference and all-region … Also competed on the golf team for three years, earning all-region honors.
 
Holyn Marshall (Bentonville, Ark./ Bentonville)
NSCAA Scholar All-America 2011 … Participated for two years in the Arkansas State Olympic Development Program and Arkansas/Oklahoma combined state ODP team … A seven-year team captain for the NWA Lightning Strikers … Helped her club team to the 2011 Arkansas State Championship and 2008 President Cup Championship …  Named the 2009 Clorox Cup MVP … Three-time letterwinner at Bentonville High School … Earned Arkansas 7A All-State honors in 2011 … 2011 Bentonville High School Scholar-Athlete Award recipient … Led her team to a state runner-up finish in 2010 and 2011.
 
Kayla Smith (Evansville, Ind./North)
Indiana Olympic Development Program … Region II Camp participant … Helped her club team, S.W.I.S.A. Crush to a U17 Indiana State Championship in 2011, U16 and U15 trips to the state finals in 2010 and 2009, and U15 Midwest Regional League First Division Championship in 2009 … Competing for North, named first team all-state as a senior and honorable mention all-state as a sophomore … Also a three-time first team all-district, all-conference, and all-city selection … Class Valedictorian.

Abby Springer (Indianapolis, Ind./ Southport)
A four-year lettewinner at Southport High School … Earned first team all-conference honors all four years … A three-time first-team all-county, team MVP, and team captain … Totaled 53 goals and nine assists in her career … In her senior season, named Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association first team all-state, Indiana Soccer Coaches Association third team all-state, IHSAA Sportsmanship Award, and Indy Star Super Team honorable mention … Competes for the St. Francis Fusion club team … Indiana Challenge Cup Champion … As the second-leading scorer, helped her team to the USYSA President's Cup Semi-Finals … Has scored 77 goals and 40 assists with the Fusion.
 
Sophie Etienne (Santa Claus, Ind./Heritage Hills)
Competes for the S.W.I.S.A. Crush club team … Led the Crush to U17 Indiana State Championship in 2011, and U16 and U15 Indiana State Finals in 2010 and 2009 … Helped the team to U15 Midwest Regional League First Division Championship, U14 Indiana State Semi-Finals, and U13 Indiana Soccer League Premier Division Championship … Named team captain as a junior and senior at Heritage Hills … Earned all-state honorable mention twice … A three-time first team all-conference and two-time all-district selection … Led her team in goals as a freshman and assists as a junior.
 
Kelli Moran (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood)
Competes for St. Louis Scott Gallagher … Named first team all-conference and is Kirkwood’s third all-time leading scorer for a defender … National Honor Society member … KHS Honor Roll.
