EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With the regular season completed, the University of Evansville women’s tennis team sets its sights on the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, which will begin on Friday.
Evansville enters Friday’s opening round of play as the fifth seed and will be pitted against fourth-seeded Southern Illinois. The teams will meet at 9 a.m. at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
The Aces finished the season with a 13-8 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the MVC. The Salukis were 16-4 and finished in a three-way tie for second in the league with a 5-2 mark. In the regular season meeting between the schools, SIU came away with a 6-1 win in Carbondale on March 28.
Natasha James picked up a singles win to earn UE’s point as the Salukis were one of just two conference institutions to deal the Aces a loss in doubles. In last year’s tournament, the teams also met as the Salukis came away with the 4-3 victory.
