MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – A strong thunderstorm along with lightning caused the University of Evansville’s women’s soccer game at Central Michigan to be cancelled at the 29:57 mark of the second half.
At the beginning of the match, the weather was sunny, but a torrential downpour hit the field near the end of the first half. Light rain continued to fall after halftime before the game was officially called late in the second half due to lightning along with another impending storm.
Evansville will begin preparations for its home opener, which is set for Friday at 4:30 p.m. as the Aces welcome Saint Louis University to Arad McCutchan Stadium. That is part of a doubleheader with the men’s team, who will play host to Lipscomb later in the evening.
