NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Katie Proud notched a goal 21:59 into the match to give Belmont a 1-0 victory over the University of Evansville women’s soccer team on Friday evening.
Proud registered an unassisted tally to give Belmont (3-1-0) all of the offense it would need. Nicole Berner, the Bruins’ goalie, made three saves to earn the shutout. The Bruins finished the night with 12 shots while the Aces mustered up ten.
Freshman
Abby Springer led Evansville (1-3-0) with four shots, two of which were on goal while senior
Olivia Robinson notched a pair of shots.
“We had a strong effort tonight, but we were unable to take advantage of our chances,” head coach
Krista McKendree said. “The goal we gave up was a tough one, but we will fight back on Sunday (at Purdue).”
Kim Elmore led BU with three shots while Proud and Taylor Smith notched two apiece.
UE goalkeeper
Chaviel Harrison made three saves on four shots while Berner stopped all three of UE’s shots on goal.
The Aces will look to return to their winning ways on Sunday as they take on Purdue at Noon.
