EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With their non-conference tournaments behind them, the University of Evansville volleyball team will have one last tune-up prior to MVC play as they are set to host Belmont on Tuesday evening at the Carson Center at 7 p.m.
Evansville (3-7) looks to regain the magic it had last Tuesday as it swept past Murray State in the home opener. Junior
Katie Klages is coming off of a solid three-game stretch this weekend. The libero averaged 24.3 digs per match in this weekend’s Active Ankle Challenge in St. Louis.
Klages’ 33 digs against the Billikens was a career-high and was just five short of the UE record of 38. She was honored for her play by being named to the All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore
Ashley Ring continued her early-season success by tallying 18 kills versus SLU before tallying 11 against USF. Another player who came on late in the weekend was freshman
Stephanie Cerino. After notching just five kills through the opening eight matches of the season, Cerino notched eight in each of her last two outings and will look to keep that stretch rolling.
Belmont comes into Tuesday’s match with a 2-7 record, but posted a win last time out against Niagara. Prior to that, the Bruins struggled, losing seven matches in a row while winning just one set over that span.
Allison McCoy leads Belmont with 71 kills and has played efficiently on offense, fighting her way to a .308 attacking percentage.
Missouri Valley Conference play begins for the Aces on Friday as they host Illinois State at 7 p.m. before welcoming Indiana State on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Carson Center.
