Milovic And Costales Lead UE Tennis In Day Two

Day Two Results

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – #
Mina Milovic and Kelsey Costales# each went 2-0 on Saturday as the Purple Aces women’s tennis team finished the opening rounds of singles play at the SIUE Fall Invitational.
 
Milovic, playing at flight two, earned a win over Jennifer Kim of Eastern Illinois (6-1, 6-4) before taking down Sasha Ruocco of Central Arkansas in three sets (5-7, 7-5, 13-11). 
 
In the fifth flight, it was Costales earning a pair of victories, starting with a win over Alex Curtis from EIU.  She won by scores of 6-3 and 6-4.  Costales kept her momentum going against Anna Buyukyan from Central Arkansas.  After a 6-1 win, she finished off the match with a 6-0 win.
 
Sophomore Gaby Fifer had a strong outing in the third flight.  After falling to Kristen Laird from EIU, she rebounded with a win over Central Arkansas’ Krizia Buck.  She won 6-4 and 7-6.
 
Emily Richardson also went 1-1 on the day.  She opened up with a win over EIU’s Hannah Kimbrough in three sets (5-7, 7-6, 10-3).  Later, she fell at the hands of Stephanie Gonzalez.
 
Natasha James played in the top flight, going 0-2 on Saturday.  She fell to Sephore Boulbahaiem from EIU before losing in three sets to Kristina Horsikyan from UCA.  Freshman Rachel Gillespie also went 0-2 on Saturday, playing in flight six.  She fell to Ali Foster from EIU before falling to Bianca Strukelj from Central Arkansas.
 
Evansville will wrap up the event on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. when the singles teams play against host SIU Edwardsville.  At 1:30 p.m., the tournament will finish as the UE doubles squads will take on Central Arkansas.
