EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women’s tennis team will take to the court for the second time this season as they travel to Austin Peay for a weekend tournament.
In the season-opening event two weeks ago, the Purple Aces were led by sophomore
Mina Milovic. Milovic was a perfect 3-0 in singles play in the event at flight two. She topped Jennifer Kim of EIU before beating Sasha Ruocco of Central Arkansas. In the third and final singles match of the weekend for Milovic, she topped Haley Ilcewicz of SIUE.
hree other Aces went 2-1 in their singles debuts for the season as
Gaby Fifer,
Emily Richardson and
Kelsey Costales each won two out of their three matches. Fifer, who competed in flight three, fell to Eastern Illinois in the opening round before defeating Krizia Buck (UCA) and Sierra Halverson (SIUE).
Richardson won matches in the fourth flight over Hannah Kimbrough (EIU) and McKenzie Thomas (SIUE). Costales gained singles wins over EIU and UCA.
Fifer also saw her success translate into doubles play as she posted a solid 2-1 mark with partner
Emily Richardson. The duo fell to Kristen Laird and Ali Foster of EIU in the first round before winning consecutive matches. They topped McKenzie Thomas and Haley Ilcewicz of SIUE and Sasha Ruocco and Anna Buyukyan from UCA in the second doubles flight.
Aside from UE, seven other squads will participate including: Austin Peay, SIUE, SEMO, UT Martin, Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky and Murray State.
