EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville tennis coach
Nick Mueller welcomes a pair of newcomers to his 2013 squad as
Marina Moreno and
Marketa Trousilova will begin play with the Purple Aces later this month.
Moreno comes to UE as a true freshman from her native Mexico while Trousilova transfers as a sophomore from Kansas State.
“We’re extremely excited to add Marina and Marketa to our team for this spring. They both have extensive experience on the national level in their respective countries as well as the international level,” Mueller said. “Marketa has one year of collegiate experience while Marina has been to the US a few times before and has been exposed to a very high level herself. I look for both of them to make an immediate impact on our team.”
Moreno is a native of Puebla, Mexico where she won four national championships in singles and doubles in 2010. She also played in the Central America Games where she won a silver medal that same year and was ranked as high as third in Mexico.
She is the daughter of Fidel Moreno and Marina Chincoya and has an older brother. Her major at UE is undecided at this point.
Before coming to Evansville, Marketa Trousilova played at Kansas State where she picked up a win in the Big 12 Championship at No. 3 doubles against Texas A&M. In regular season Big 12 action, she picked up doubles wins versus Baylor and Kansas.
Her accomplishments prior to KSU include a championship in TA 16-doubles while making the championship of the Czech Republic on four occasions in the adult category while doing so three times as a junior. Her highest ranking was 22nd nationally and third in her area.
A native of Teplice, Czech Republic, her parents are Pavel Trousil and Marketa Trousilova. She has a younger brother and sister and will be a communications major.
