EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Fresh off of a 1-1 start to the spring campaign, the University of Evansville women’s tennis team takes to the road once again to face IPFW and Bowling Green.
Evansville will face the Mastadons on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT before traveling to face the Falcons on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. CT. Fans traveling to the contests are reminded that both schools are in the Eastern Time Zone.
Last weekend, the Purple Aces opened up with a 4-3 loss at Eastern Illinois before rebounding in a big way on Saturday with a 6-1 win at Lipscomb.
Three Aces finished the weekend with perfect singles records including
Natasha James,
Gaby Fifer and
Marketa Trousilova. James picked up one win in the first and second flights last weekend while Trousilova played in the third slot and Fifer went undefeated in the sixth slot.
On the doubles side, James and Trousilova went 1-1 last weekend while the duo of
Kelsey Costales and
Marina Moreno were also 1-1.
IPFW fell in a pair of hard-fought matches last weekend, falling at Toledo by a 3-4 tally before dropping a 2-5 decision at home versus Eastern Michigan. Miloslava Shustova posted a 2-0 record to open the season at the No. 6 flight while their top doubles team of Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer also posted a perfect mark.
Bowling Green is 3-1 in 2013 with their lone defeat coming at the hands of #19 Notre Dame. The Falcons have been dominant in their other outings, picking up a 7-0 win over Duquesne, a 6-1 victory over Drake and a 7-0 shutout of Chicago State.
Next weekend, the Aces will open up the home portion of their schedule as they take on Austin Peay on Saturday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. Tri-State Athletic Club will play host to the match.
