INDIANAPOLIS – The Purple Aces women’s tennis team had its 3-game win streak halted as UNC Wilmington took a 5-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Five Seasons Sports Club in Indianapolis.
Natasha James and
Marketa Trousilova were a bright spot for Evansville (6-5) as they took an 8-4 win over Angie Sekely and Olga Blank at No. 1 doubles.
Kelsey Costales and
Marina Moreno fell by a 9-8 final to Kelly Cameron and Miller Hales at No. 2 singles while the third flight saw Alyssa Ritchie and Christine Kharkevich defeat
Gaby Fifer and
Emily Richardson by an 8-5 final.
The Seahawks took four singles matches to earn the 5-0 victory. James and Trousilova were each ahead in their sets, but they did not finish due to the match being clinched by UNCW. In the third slot, it was
Mina Milovic falling to Ritchie, 6-3, 6-0.
Flight four saw Moreno fall to Cameron, 6-2, 6-1 while Fifer was topped by Blank, 6-0, 6-0. In the sixth slot, it was Kharkevich defeating Richardson fell in two sets with each being a 6-2 final.
Evansville will have four days to get ready for their next road trip as they will take on Arkansas State at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Jonesboro, Ark.
