EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Aces softball fell to Bradley in today’s series finale as the Braves secured the victory over UE in six innings, 11-3.
Evansville tallied five hits on the day while notching one double, three RBIs, four walks, and one sacrifice fly. Four different players went 1-for-2 on the day for the Aces as senior
Alicia Betancur grabbed a double and an RBI.
UE softball will be back on the field next at Cooper Stadium as they continue Valley play against Southern Illinois on Wednesday, April 17, for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. CST.
Game Recap: Bradley 11, UE 3
The Braves took an early 1-0 lead as a steal to home put Bradley on top in the top of the first. With a solo home run to center field, the Braves notched another run on the board and advanced their lead further to 2-0 in the second.
Evansville answered back in the bottom of the second inning with a run of its own as a double by Betancur sent a runner to home plate and made it a 2-1 game.
With the bases loaded in the top of the third and just one out, an RBI single to left field allowed Bradley to tack on another run as they continued over UE, 3-1. As a throwing error by Evansville sent a runner to home plate, a double to left field produced a pair of runs for the Braves and expanded their lead, 6-1.

Sarah Baldwin took over for senior starter
Sarah Patterson in the third as Baldwin worked her way out of the inning for the Aces after a fly out to left field capped off the top of the inning.
After a scoreless fourth frame, Bradley added another run to the board in the fifth after they moved up, 7-1, over the UE with an RBI single to the shortstop.
The Aces were able to manufacture a pair of runs in the bottom half of the fifth with a bases loaded RBI single by senior
Kendall Kautz and a sacrifice fly to left field by senior
Halie Malone that made it a 7-3 game heading into the sixth.
As pitcher
Emily Morris came in for Baldwin in the top of the sixth with one out and the bases loaded, Bradley was able to capitalize on a throwing error by Evansville and send two runners to home and expand the lead, 9-3. With a runner on second and third, the Braves notched a double to left field and sent two more runners to score as Bradley moved further on the Aces, 11-3. The Aces were able to snag a double play to end the inning as they headed to the bottom half of the sixth.
With a pair of strikeouts and a ground out, UE came up short as the Braves ended the inning and the game with an 11-3 victory over the Aces, preventing the sweep.
Bradley pitcher Madeline Lynch-Crumrine took the win for the Braves as she improved to 13-9 on the season while pitching a complete 6.0 innings. Lynch-Crumrine allowed three runs while striking out four.
UE pitcher Patterson, now 10-7, took the loss for the Aces as she struck out one in 2.2 innings in the circle. Baldwin saw 2.2 innings as she struck out one and allowed three runs.
