EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team split in its doubleheader with Southeast Missouri State. The Aces defeated the Redhawks, 1-0, before SEMO took the second game, 3-2.
Evansville (10-19) combined for 11 hits on the day and went 1-for-2 in stolen bases. Sophomore
Mariah Ferguson was perfect at the plate as she went 1-for-1 while notching a home run, two RBIs, and one run scored. Freshman

Tamara Robey also provided power for UE as the pair went 4-for-9 at bat with Robey notching one run, one double, one triple, and one walk.
The Aces will travel to UT-Martin to face the Skyhawks in Martin, Tenn. tomorrow, April 3, in a doubleheader starting at 4:00 p.m. CST.
Game 1: SEMO 0, UE 1
With her third triple of the season falling into right center, Robey was able to score after an RBI single by sophomore
Kayla Fortner allowed the Aces to take an early lead over SEMO in the first, 1-0.
With the next six innings remaining scoreless for the Redhawks, UE was able to take the victory, 1-0, after SEMO left a runner stranded in the bottom of the seventh.
UE pitcher
Annie Moore grabbed her first win after she pitched a complete 7.0 innings in the circle. Moore did not allowed any runs as she is now 1-6 on the season.
Redhawk’s pitcher Taylor Cowan suffered the loss as she completed 7.0 innings of work while allowing one run and striking out eight. Cowan is now 6-12 on the season.
Game 2: SEMO 3, UE 2
SEMO struck early in the first with a double down the right field line and an RBI single up the middle to take the lead, 2-0, over the Aces.
The Redhawks continued to expand their lead in the sixth frame as a home run to left field advanced the score, 3-0, with UE still scoreless going into the top of the seventh.
Evansville was not giving up as a home run by Ferguson drove in two runs and allowed the Aces to draw closer to SEMO, 3-2.
After a single to third base by
Victoria Dellorto allowed runners to advance to second and third, the Aces left three runners stranded in the top of the seventh inning after a fly out to right field clinched the win for the Redhawks, 3-2.
SEMO pitcher Hannah Clemons took the win for the Redhawks as she improved to 2-4 on the season. Clemons struck out four in 5.2 innings of work in the circle and did not allow any runs.
Evansville pitcher
Sarah Patterson, now 6-6 on the season, suffered the loss as she pitched a complete 7.0 innings. Patterson struck out five while allowing three runs.
