EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to wrap up its final on the road conference matchup against Indiana State. The Aces will face the Sycamores on Saturday, April 27, in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. CST before they finish up in a single game on Sunday also starting at 12:00 p.m. CST.
Evansville (19-26, 10-10) has won its last four Missouri Valley Conference series heading into Indiana State in which they are led by seniors
Brianna Villanueva and
Tamara Robey. The pair has combined for 20 runs, 37 hits, and 15 stolen bases in 19 attempts.
UE has manufactured 130 hits, 79 runs, 15 doubles, five triples, seven home runs, and 65 RBIs in conference play while notching 60 walks and 34 stolen bases.
Scouting the Opponents
Indiana State University Sycamores (14-33, 3-18 Missouri Valley Conference)
Indiana State enters this series with a 14-33 record, with three conference wins against Wichita State, Missouri State, and Drake. After losing eight letterwinners from the 2012 season, the Sycamores came in at the ten spot in the Missouri Valley Conference Preseason poll.
Shelby Wilson leads the Sycamores at the hitting position with a .376 batting average out of 141 at bats. While recording nine doubles and eight home runs on the season, Wilson has tallied 28 runs, notched 33 RBIs, 16 walks and has gone 9-for-12 in stolen bases. With a .346 average in the batter’s box, Megan Stone also proves to be a powerful force for Indiana State as she has tallied 21 runs, 10 doubles, one triple, eight home runs and 27 RBIs while going 5-for-6 in stolen bases.
Ashli Scott leads the pitching staff this season with 103.1 innings pitched and a 4.74 ERA. Scott has struck out 66 and has recorded five complete games in 33 appearances with one shutout for the Sycamores, making her 5-8 on the season.
